As we age, concern often arises about the onset of dementia.  A study at Johns Hopkins University has revealed a link between dementia and hearing loss.   The findings in this study indicate that hearing loss accelerates brain shrinkage, particularly in areas responsible for sound and speech processing, because the auditory cortex is not being stimulated.
